#OfferHope on Giving Tuesday!

Giving Tuesday. You may have heard the buzz around this day of giving that follows Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, but do you know what this day is all about?

Giving Tuesday is the biggest day of charitable giving for nonprofit agencies around the world. It was created in 2012 as a way for people to give back to their communities following a weekend of shopping for holiday deals.  Millions of people donate to causes that matter to them, promoting community programs and helping those in need. This gives YOU the opportunity to support charities in your very own community.

This year AVP is participating in this day of giving for the first time in our history! We have set a goal to raise $300 by midnight on Giving Tuesday, December 3rd. We are counting on YOU to partner with us as we offer services to those in our community who have been affected by violence.

Partners can also choose to give back on Cyber Monday. We’ve created an Amazon wish list that makes it easy to support survivors. When you purchase an item on our wish list, it will be added to a self care kit. These kits are gifted to individuals who have been victims of violence or who have lost a loved one to homicide. With your help, AVP can fill these kits with self care items that will offer hope to those in need.

In 2018, Philadelphia’s murder rate was 17% higher than that of New York City. Philadelphia also had more homicides than the entire metropolitan area of Washington D.C. Homicide in this city is a glaring issue, but we are not without hope. This year for Giving Tuesday we are counting on you to help us raise $300 to support victims in their time of need.

Consider partnering with AVP this Giving Tuesday and offer hope to those in our city who have been affected by violence.
